I knew the size information and that it was a USB connected drive.īottom line - I did not know for sure how the original drive was formatted by the manufacturer and wanted to be sure before wasting a day or two copying over my 2 TB time machine folder. These questions came up because I was following Apple's old instructions on moving one Time Machine backup from one drive and volume to a new larger drive and volume. I am still getting used to the El Capitan and its new Disk Utility application.
